Nye served as a Senior Writer for Willamette Law Online Intellectual Property Division. Nye is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) and spent the summer of 2006 in Shanghai, China where he enrolled in the East China University of Politics and Law's Chinese law program.

Nye enjoys golfing, tennis, fishing and traveling. He is a member of Willamette Valley Inns of Court.
